The purpose of this e-learning course is to present and explain the Guidelines for the Environmental Risk Assessment of Genetically Engineered Plants, 2016(“Guidelines”). The Guidelines have been prepared by the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change to describe the approach followed by the Government of India to assess any potentially adverse environmental effects resulting from the environmental release of genetically engineered (GE) plants, i.e., plants that have resulted from the use of modern biotechnology, as defined by the Cartagena Protocol.
